Heidi Hagglund

Heidi Hagglund received her Master of Music in Flute Performance from DePaul University and her Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, graduating with honors from each school. She has performed with the Concertante di Chicago, the Elmhurst Symphony, the Bloomington Pops Orchestra, the Trinity Community Philharmonic, the Wheaton Municipal Band, and other orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout the United States. Ms. Hagglund has been a studio recording session artist in the Chicago area, has performed with well-known artists such as Michael Card and Fernando Ortega, and has been a guest artist on the WTTW television program, “30 Good Minutes.” She has also performed as part of the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Lake Placid Flute Institute, Ithaca Flute Institute, and the University of Indiana Summer Music Festival.
Her principal flute teachers include Mary Stolper, Susan Saylor, Anita Rieder, Victoria Jicha, and Denise Westby. Additionally, she has studied with Louise Dixon and Martha Herby and has performed in flute masterclasses with Leone Buyse, Walfrid Kujala, Donald Peck, Keith Underwood, Jim Walker, and Timothy Hutchins.
Ms. Hagglund is the adjunct flute professor at Trinity International University (Deerfield, IL) and Aurora University (Aurora, IL) and also teaches private flute lessons at Waubonsie Valley High School (Aurora, IL), and her private flute studio in Aurora, IL. She has specialized training in flute pedagogy and is continually seeking out new ways to help her students succeed. Ms. Hagglund has adjudicated for ensemble and concerto competitions, scholarship auditions, and for the High School IMEA auditions. She is a member of the National Flute Association and the Chicago Flute Club, where she served as treasurer for three years.
Ms. Hagglund is passionate about teaching and believes in helping each student strive to reach their maximum potential. As a skilled flute teacher, she has seen many of her students succeed to high levels of musical achievement and pursue professional music careers. She personally invests in each of her students, regardless of age or ability, to help them develop a life-long enjoyment and appreciation of music. Ms. Hagglund delights in guiding her students toward reaching their goals and she loves seeing the discipline, dedication, confidence, and joy that is gained as they work toward and achieve those goals.
In addition to her life-long love of flute, Ms. Hagglund also enjoys doting on her three nephews, baking, studying Japanese, and training in the martial arts. She has earned her black belt in both Hapkido and Tang Soo Do.
